SERVICE & REPAIR INFORMATION SHEET

Repair Guarantee

All Service/Repair actions are guaranteed for 30days against faulty workmanship.

General Information and Conditions of Items Accepted for Service.

1.   All customers booking in equipment for service must read and sign the equipment booking in form.

2.   Divers breathing regulators are only accepted as a complete set.

3.   Divers breathing regulators considered as being over 10 years old often have poor performance, are unreliable, and are not accepted for service.

4.   All prices quoted for service are exclusive of the replacement parts cost.

5.   All labour, spare parts and other costs must be paid in full prior to collection.

6.   All items requiring Nitrox/Oxygen clean service incur a 50% extra labour charge.

7.   All fixed service charges are charged ‘per unit’ worked on.

8.   Replacement parts/Batteries are subject to the manufactures warrantee’s.

AIR, NITROX & TRIMIX GAS FILLS

CONDITIONS FOR ACCEPTANCE PRIOR TO FILLING

1.   By law, all scuba cylinders require a 5-year periodic hydrostatic test and a 1 year visual inspection test.

2.   Any scuba cylinder with a expired Hydrostatic test stamp date will not be filled.

3.   Any scuba cylinder without a valid visual inspection sticker will not be filled.

4.   Any Nitrox or Trimix mixed gas cylinder without a valid Oxygen service sticker will not be filled.

5.   Nitrox & Trimix will only be supplied to certified Nitrox & Trimix divers.

7.   Any scuba cylinder supplied empty is considered to have been flooded with seawater and is subject to a mandatory visual inspection prior to filling. The normal visual inspection & valve removal fees apply.

8.   All Nitrox cylinders supplied with air in them are subject to mandatory visual inspection and Oxygen cleaning prior to filling. The normal visual inspection, Oxygen cleaning & valve removal fees apply.

9.   Any suspect cylinder supplied for Nitrox or Trimix gas filling may be visually inspected prior to filling at the discretion of the filler to determine if it is safe to be filled. This discretionary visual inspection is free of charge. The cylinder will be returned to its original condition if not filled.

SCUBA CYLINDER HYDROSTATIC TESTING & VISUAL INSPECTION.

INFORMATION & CONDITIONS FOR ACCEPTANCE

1.   The Regulations of the DOT, CGA, TIS and the manufactures standards govern the testing procedures for scuba cylinders. Samui Easytek Co., Ltd. rigorously abides by all the current regulations and recommendations regarding the visual inspection, hydrostatic testing and treatments of scuba cylinders.

2.   The 5 yearly hydrostatic tests rarely ‘fail’ a scuba cylinder. The vast majority of condemned scuba cylinders are removed from service because of non-correctable damage, corrosion, cracks, thread problems, distortion or other abnormalities detected during the visual inspection.

3.   Cylinders subjected to visual inspection or hydrostatic test may ‘PASS’ be ‘REGECTED’ or be ‘CONDEMNED’. A cylinder that has ‘PASSED’ may be released for another period of service. A cylinder that is ‘REGECTED’ needs work carried out on it (such as tumbling or cleaning) before it may be returned to service. A cylinder that is ‘CONDEMNED’ suffers from a non-correctable defect that prevents if from ever being used for storing compressed air again. The condemned cylinder markings are then struck through with ‘XXX’ to destroy the cylinders markings and alert cylinder fillers that the cylinder is dangerous to use. The ‘CONDEMNED’ cylinder will also be rendered unusable by either having a hole drilled into the neck or by being cut in half before being returned to the customer.

4.   Aluminium Scuba Cylinders marked SP6498 and some other markings prior to 1988 are subject to progressive cracks in the cylinder neck area that grows with time and eventually cause the cylinder to explode killing the cylinder filler and destroying the dive shop. The cracks are often not visible by visual inspection, and are usually only detectable by NDT eddy current testing.

 5.   All cylinders supplied for hydrostatic testing are subject to a (FREE) mandatory visual inspection prior to the hydrostatic test. Cylinders ‘REGECTED’ by the visual inspection must have the abnormality corrected PRIOR to the hydrostatic test.

6.   All cylinders subjected to tumbling to remove corrosion (this might have been identified by an annual visual inspection for example) are subject to a mandatory hydrostatic test AFTER cleaning. The normal hydrostatic test fees apply.

7.   Cylinders supplied for service without Pillar Valves are subjected to a 500 baht deposit per cylinder to be paid prior to any hydrostatic test or visual inspection.

8.   The main pillar valve O-ring that seals the pillar valve to the tank body hardens within 1-2 years and no longer seals properly. This causes the often seen fine mist of bubbles to be emitted around the cylinder neck joint.
